BIG W Marketing / Woolworths Group - Designer (contract)


My role at BIG W Marketing revolved around creative ideation for brand campaign photography particularly with fashion and lifestyle, and graphic design for output of cross-platform assets for social, print, online and in-store POS.

Not only have I worked to understand and embody the BIG W brand in my design work, I have played a role in the creative development of special fashion and home shoots for BIG W branded campaigns.

The development of collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organisation, as well as with external creative partners and suppliers has been vital to my success particularly with remote working.


Other responsibilities:

  • Improved design workflow through the development of photography briefing templates

  • Creative direction for apparel campaigns

  • Development of the BIG W brand through creation of fashion photography guidelines for e-commerce and multichannel campaigns 

  • Presentation of creative concepts and briefs to stakeholders

  • Image selection, fast turn around of retouching briefs and subsequent management of asset delivery.

Hyland Media - Art Director

As a full-service agency, HYLAND gave me a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with media strategy and planning. The Art Director role required a strong understanding of effective creative design practices, trends, techniques, and processes across online, mobile, print, social and OOH.

Our busy studio worked on multiple jobs concurrently each with many moving parts and tight deadlines.

Understanding and working to various brand guidelines were integral to the work undertaken at HYLAND. Staying up-to-date with the new advertising tech as it became available was mandatory.

Other responsibilities:

  • Quality assurance of work to ensure all was on-brand for global brands including RIMMEL, COVERGIRL, SALLY HANSEN, CALVIN KLEIN and CHLOE

  • Creative ideation, creating concepts and Art direction photography shoots for campaigns

  • Localisation of global brand campaigns for all streams

  • Mentoring of junior designers

  • Presenting creative strategy and asset scope

Immersed in the world of mags,  this is where I first fell in love with design and photography for beauty, fashion and lifestyle brands.

  • Created in-mag executions, marketing collateral and event design for various mastheads including CLEO, MADISON, ELLE and HARPERS BAZAAR 

  • Deliver original creative concepts utilising the magazine editorial environment for a variety of premium clients including Revlon, Clinique, Nivea, Bonds as well as internal trade materials

  • Coordinate booked jobs from brief to print managing all aspects of production including photoshoots, writing, subbing and prepress

  • Working with Account Managers to ideate creative concepts for promotional propositions
